Privacy policy
Effective date: 2026-10-10.
Postgres Studio is a desktop app that runs on your computer. It has no account, no telemetry, no analytics and no ads, and the project runs no server that the app talks to. We don’t collect, store, sell or share any personal information.
This policy is published at https://pgstudio.nilpointer.tech/privacy/.
What stays on your computer
- Connections: the connection profiles you save, including names, hosts, ports, database names and settings, are stored on your computer in the app’s configuration folder. Passwords and SSH passphrases go to your system’s credential store (Windows Credential Manager, macOS Keychain, or Secret Service on Linux), not to the configuration folder.
- Your data: the app connects only to the PostgreSQL servers you set up. The contents of your databases go only to and from those servers, and the app reads and writes them only when you ask it to: opening a table, running SQL, committing an edit.
- Your files: scripts, exports and anything else you save are written only where you choose.
- Logs: the app writes a log of its own activity and errors to your computer, to help diagnose problems. It stays on your machine and is never sent anywhere. You can delete it at any time.
The Assistant (optional)
The Assistant is off until you turn it on. When it’s on, it runs an AI coding agent that is already installed on your computer and signed in with your own account: Claude Code (by Anthropic) or Codex (by OpenAI).
- Your messages, and whatever the agent reads through the app’s read-only tools, are sent to that agent’s provider, Anthropic or OpenAI, under the terms of your own account with them. This happens only when you enable the Assistant and use it.
- Postgres Studio itself stores no API key, has no AI service, and sends nothing to Anthropic or OpenAI on its own.
- If you never enable the Assistant, nothing is sent to either company.
